Your configuration
The café set is not one lamp. It is how we light cafés, restaurants under 80 m² and homestays: a lamp chosen for each table, drawn onto your floor plan, a circuit layout, and installation in a single night while you are closed.
How the price works
You pay for the lamps you choose, at the normal price of each, plus VND 2,800,000 for the mock-up on your floor plan, the circuit layout and one overnight installation. The smallest set is eight Lập Thu pendants: 8 × 1,900,000 = VND 15,200,000, plus 2,800,000, VND 18,000,000 before VAT.
At Thềm Chiều café (40 seats, 12 tables, a 3.6 m ceiling): twelve 35 cm Hạ Chí pendants with 2 m cables, 12 × 2,660,000 = VND 31,920,000; one Tiểu Mãn set over the counter, VND 3,600,000; the plan and overnight fee, VND 2,800,000. Total VND 38,320,000.
Who does what
Đặng Thu Hà takes your floor plan and evening photos, picks a lamp for each table and draws the whole room lit. Lâm Văn Lộc bends the brass frames, softened with a torch, about half a day each. Huỳnh Thị Mến weaves the shades on wooden moulds so every lamp of one design in the room matches. Tô Minh Khang wires them, runs each one for 24 hours, then installs them on the agreed night. When the last lamp is up, Hà measures the light on every table with a handheld lux meter.
A fifteen-lamp café is about half of what the workshop makes in a month, so book early.
What the light does
One pool per table. Aisles and walls stay darker; the counter is brightest. Every bulb is 2700K, the yellow-white of an old incandescent, at 6 W. Thềm Chiều runs 15 bulbs, 90 W in all. Our note on lighting a small café explains why evenly lit cafés feel like offices, and the one on electricity cost shows how to work out the bill yourself.
How high to hang it
70 to 80 cm from tabletop to the bottom of each lamp; Thềm Chiều is at 80 cm. Over aisles we keep at least 2.1 m from the floor. Khang sets each lamp’s height during the installation night.
Care
Café lamps collect dust and kitchen grease faster than home ones. Brush rattan and seagrass shades every two weeks with a soft brush, no sprays. Keep dó paper shades (giấy dó, made from the bark of the dó tree) away from the bar and the kitchen. More on the rattan page.
Options people usually pick
- Split circuits: counter on one, tables on another, so you can switch off the tables and still close up under the counter lights.
- Wall dimmers (VND 350,000 each) and dimmable bulbs (VND 90,000 each): brighter at lunch, lower in the evening.
- Matte black frames for dark ceilings; raw brass for limewashed walls.
- Longer cables (VND 60,000 per extra 0.5 m per lamp) for tall shophouse ceilings.
The first step is your floor plan and a photo of the room in the evening. Read the hospitality page, or send them now through the light mock-up page.
From the workshop journal
- cafe lighting electricity cost
Fifteen 6 W bulbs, twelve hours a day: the electricity bill
Work it out yourself: watts times hours times the business tariff. Example: the 90 W set at Thềm Chiều café, using EVN's tariff and the 2026 peak hours.
